📜 Understanding "Good For" & "Avoid" Activities

📖 What Are Yi Ji (宜忌)?

In the Chinese almanac, Yi (宜, "Good For") and Ji (忌, "Avoid") are activity classifications for each day. They indicate which activities are traditionally considered favorable or unfavorable based on the day's spiritual and elemental influences.

How Activities Are Classified

Each activity's suitability is determined by cross-referencing:

  • The day's auspicious spirits (Ji Shen) — which activities they support
  • The day's inauspicious influences (Xiong Sha) — which activities they conflict with
  • The Five Element balance of the day

When favorable spirits for an activity are present and no conflicting influences exist, it is listed under "Good For." Otherwise, it goes under "Avoid."

ⓘ Activity classifications follow documented rules from the Xie Ji Bian Fang Shu. They are traditional cultural references, not advice for real-life planning.
